Fetal Doll No 3
-
I am selling a very rare 'one-off' collection of fout antique fetal dolls from the Obstetric Museum in Edinburgh. The collection was started when James Simpson (discoverer of chloroform) was the professor of Obstetrics and Midwifery in the late 1840s. Doll No. 3 has a swoft leather covered body with an umbilical cord and leather covered wood head (which looks as it was pulled a bit too hard by a medical student using forceps at some point in the past judging by the elongated neck!) I believe it dates from around the mid Victorian period the 1860s/1870s 21" (51 cm)
